Federal & State Scholarships
There are many different types of assistance for students seeking funds for higher education. You can begin by checking with college financial aid personnel, your college advisor and high school counselors for information on scholarship and grant donors and other sources of assistance.
State-Based Scholarships
Contact your state's Department of Higher Education. In Arkansas, contact the Arkansas Department of Higher Education, in Little Rock at 1-800-54STUDY or 501-371-2000, or visit www.arscholarships.com for more information.
Merit-based Scholarships
These are awarded on talents or achievements. Contact civic clubs, your church or other clubs and organizations with which you and your family are affiliated.
Outside, Local, or Private Scholarships
Contributing organizations may be identified by your high school counselor, the college you plan to attend, chamber of commerce, scholarship books (located in libraries and bookstores) or from low or no-cost internet scholarship searches.
Visit our Free Scholarship Search or browse our list of links to other free scholarship searches and notable scholarships.
Employment
Your prospective school may have a student placement or employment office to help you locate jobs on or off campus. These jobs are available to you based on abilities, not your financial need. For graduate school you should check with the graduate office at your college for information on Assistantships and Fellowships.
